OHANA (Optical Hawaiian Array for Nonoradian Astronomy) fiber optic conduit installation
Rohendra Atapattu, Olivier Lai, Dan Sabin

Abstract: The fiber optic cables connecting the CFH telescope and the Gemini telescope requires installation of new infrastructure to route the cables. There are restrictions on excavation or installlation of any new infrastructure on Mauna Kea due to it being a State Conservation District. CFHT has successfully obtained authorization from the Department of Land and Natural resoureces, and the Office of Mauna Kea Management to install a conduit between the two Observatories. The conduit runs underground, under the CFHT roadway, and thereafter above the ground to the Gemini Observatory. The underground conduit installation was recently completed. This and conduit details are featured in the poster.
