Looking for cool Brown Dwarfs with CFHTLS,

Abstract: %09We present here the first results of our ongoing search for, %09field Brown Dwarfs in CFHTLS data.The final goal of this, %09survey will be the identification of a larger sample of cool, %09brown dwarfs to find and study the coolest brown dwarfs and to, %09determine the statistics of brown dwarfs' galactic, %09population.We create optimised object catalogs for that, %09search, using a new version of Sextractor to perform, %09PSF-fitting photometry in dual image mode between the i' and, %09z' images. We then select Brown Dwarf candidates using their, %09extremely red i'-z' color, and obtain follow-up J-band, %09photometry to discriminate them from z=6 quasars. After, %09analysing ~360 sq deg from CFHTLS Very Wide and Deep image, we, %09found over 150 new early L to late L dwarfs and about 40 T, %09dwarfs, as well as the first z%3E6 quasars outside the SDSS, %09survey. We obtained spectra of the most interesting candidates.
