Title: High-redshift early-type galaxies through rest-frame optical spectroscopy

Abstract: I will present results on rest-frame optical properties of
high redshift early-type galaxies at 1.4<z<3.  In the first part of
the talk, I will present results based on near-IR spectroscopic
observations carried out with Subaru/MOIRCS in which we have
identified 18 massive passively evolving galaxies at z>1.4 in the
COSMOS field, and will discuss their photometric redshifts and stellar
population properties through rest-frame optical spectral features
combined with physical properties derived from broad-band imaging
data. Then in the second part, our recent identification of an
early-type galaxy at z=3, the most distant early-type galaxy so far,
will be introduced and its stellar population properties will be also
discussed.  At the end, with the total sample, I will show that there
is a large diversity among high redshift early-type population.
