CFHT Legacy Survey Users' Registration

Why would you want to become a CFHTLS Registered User?

By becoming a CFHTLS Registered User, you will be able to:

  • participate in the definition and evolution of the CFHTLS
  • interact with the other users on survey related issues
  • receive directly survey-related information
  • access the CFHTLS data as soon as they are made available at CADC

Are you eligible?

The eligibility of individuals to receive proprietary access to the CFHTLS data is extended to:

  • All persons engaged in astronomical research residing in France and Canada (includes students and post-doctoral fellows as well as employed professional astronomers as Universities and Research Institutes).
  • Members of the CFHT scientific staff.
  • Professional astronomers employed at Research Institutes or Universities outside of Canada or France, but who are directly or indirectly supported by either NRC or CNRS, or another French or Canadian agency (e.g., a French Astronomer at ESO, a Canadian astronomer at JAC).
Individuals who do not fit the stated eligibility criteria but nevertheless believe they may be eligible to be included in the CFHTLS community may apply, stating their argument, to the CFHT Executive Director for authorization to register.

How can you apply for your CFHTLS Registered User status?

  • First check you eligibility to the CFHTLS Registered User status (see above).
  • If you feel that your current position allows you to register, click on the "Register" button at the bottom of this page.
  • Your username for the CFHTLS is going to be your email address. If you have the choice, please use your astronomy-related address (instead of an address on hotmail, yahoo or alike). It will ease your registration process.
  • CFHTLS data are precious to the Canadian and French communities, so be careful with your username & password!
  • Your application should normally be accepted or denied within a week.
