CFHT Legacy Survey Information & Communication

General philosophy

As shown on this diagram, this web site (www.cfht.hawaii.edu/Science/CFHTLS) proposes pages and links to multiple locations directly related to the CFHT Legacy Survey. The CFHT's New Observing Process is covered at CFHT with pages on the MegaPrime/MegaCam instrument, the Queued Service Observing, the Elixir data processing pipeline, and the CFHTLS Observing Status site. Specific sites developed by the individual survey coordinators are accessible at their home institutes and linked here. The two other entities involved in the CFHTLS data flow, the CADC and Terapix are also pointed from this site.

The CFHTLS mailing lists

Five mailing lists have been created to facilitate the communications within the CFHTLS community.

  • cfhtls@cfht.hawaii.edu is the principal list of all registered users. It is used for general purpose emails deemed of interest to any CFHTLS user.

  • Four mailing lists are dedicated to discussions and exchanges on each of the components of the survey. Each of these four component-oriented lists is the main communication tool for the Survey Coordinators.

      • cfhtls-sn@cfht.hawaii.edu: SNe aspects of the Deep component
      • cfhtls-d@cfht.hawaii.edu: SNe-unrelated aspects of the Deep component
      • cfhtls-w@cfht.hawaii.edu: Wide component
      • cfhtls-vw@cfht.hawaii.edu: Very Wide component
To be able to send an email to one of these five lists (i.e. not getting it filtered out), you have to be a member of that list. As a registered user, you are automatically a member of the main cfhtls mailing list. As a registered user, you can always check and change your membership to any of these mailing lists at any time by going back to the login page.

Registering and accessing the mailing list archive

If you are already a registered user, go to the login page and enter your login/password information. If you wish to register, go to the registration page.

Who is in the mailing lists?

Any CFHTLS registered user has access to the membership list of all the CFHTLS mailing lists, as well as access to an archive of the messages exchanged on each of CFHTLS mailing lists.
