Why an owl ?
"PUEO" is the name of an Hawaii owl. Like our Adaptive Optics
system, it is a night bird and has a sharp vision... Follow this link to
find out more about the PUEO and its meaning to the hawaiian culture.
It is also an acronym and stands (rather pompous I grant you, but
you know how it is with acronyms) for Probing the Universe
with Enhanced Optics.
