Why an owl ?

"PUEO" is the name of an Hawaii owl. Like our Adaptive Optics system, it is a night bird and has a sharp vision... Follow this link to find out more about the PUEO and its meaning to the hawaiian culture. It is also an acronym and stands (rather pompous I grant you, but you know how it is with acronyms) for Probing the Universe with Enhanced Optics.
