The 'edisp' Elixir Display Tool provides a variety of real-time
feedback information to observers during a CFH12K run. This tool may
be launched by clicking on the 'Elixir Display' button (with the
spiral galaxy). The program provides a graphical window with two menu
options: 'File' and 'Plots'. The 'File' button lets the user exit the
program. The 'Plots' button gives the user a list of Elixir realtime
display plots from which to choose. Below, we provide a detail of
each of these plots. Most plots will automatically refresh.
Occasionally, this feature fails. In this case, the user should
reselect the plot from the menu. The bottom line of the display tools
gives status information about the most recent images. The left side
gives the name, FWHM (in arcsec), and filter for the most recent
OBJECT image. This information is updated within a few seconds of the
end of image readout. The right-hand label gives the image
corresponding to the displayed greyscale image. Since This display
takes somewhat longer than the seeing statistics, the label allows the
user to know when the image is updated. There are two types of plots:
those which are related to a specific image, and are triggered by the
image acquisition system, and those which are generated on a regular
basis and display aggregated quanities of many images. This latter
set of images includes those related to the CFH12K data and those
related to SkyProbe. The SkyProbe plots are generated once per minute
between 18:00 HST and 06:00 HST. The CFH12K plots are generated once
per 5 minutes between 18:00 HST and 06:00 HST.
- biases Plot of bias offset versus time for all 12 CCDs
over the past the 3 hours. The bias offset is the difference between
the observed bias and the nominal bias for each chip.
- skyprobe recent Plot of the most recent 3 hours of
SkyProbe measurements (see also the SkyProbe About and Recent pages).
- skyprobe night Plot of the current night's SkyProbe
measurements (see also the SkyProbe About and Tonight pages).
- sky vs time Plot of the sky flux (log counts per second)
vs time for CFH12K images for the past 3 hours, with different filters
labeled in different colors.
- sky vs airmass Plot of the sky flux (log counts per
second) vs airmass for CFH12K images for the past 2 days, with
different filters labeled in different colors.
- FWHM vs time Plot of the image quality on CCD 03
(arcsec) vs time for CFH12K images for the past 3 hours, with
different filters labeled in different colors.
- FWHM vs airmass Plot of the image quality on CCD 03
(arcsec) vs airmass for CFH12K images for the past 2 days, with
different filters labeled in different colors.
- field (small) A 1 degree map of the field around the
most recent CFH12K image.
- field (large) A 10 degree map of the field around the
most recent CFH12K image.
- temperatures Plot of various temperatures vs time for
each CFH12K image for the past 3 hours.
- image (10x10) Full mosaic image from CFH12K, binned
10x10 and displayed in greyscale. The bias offset is subtracted from
the image and the cuts scaled to make the stars visible.
- focus (unit) Focus Analysis Plot.
