On typical nights the Big Island's huge volcanos act to stabilize the various
micro-climates. The east coast usually gathers all the moisture and
remains under a thick layer of clouds, seen here at sunrise from the
summit of Mauna Kea. This sea of clouds sometimes produces amazing
colors as it plays with the Sun.
